The majority of washing machine lid lock switches are powered by 3 or 4 wires each of which performs a different function.
Washing machine door lock wiring.
Hi about 3 months ago the door lock on our washer was clicking constantly.
After the door lock has been activated and the door locks shut other faults could stop the washing machine from doing anything.
The plastic connector from the wiring harness to the lock showed some evidence of burning but it fitted ok still to the new lock and functioned fine.
For example this is a possibility but much more rare if the common wire at the back of the door lock has a break in it somewhere or faulty connection where it connects to other parts of the machine so the power passing through the lock cannot reach its intended destination.
Scan the included wiring diagram until you find the wires labelled lid switch and lock switch.
Washing machines have a bi metal strip inside the door lock which is heated by ptc heater resister when live and neutral are activated on to the pcts it heats up and bends the bi metal strip which then moves the arm to activate the common terminal and push a pin into the closed door to lock it in place.
Examine your washer s tech sheet to determine which wires to cut.
